People, nothing more than People
Hi ya peeps,
Last night we had our second PDI competition.
The theme of tonight's competition was, you guessed it, People.
Quite a fruitful turnout for the crew, with eleven members putting in photos. I don't suppose we will ever achieve 100% entry, but a 75% turn out is pretty good. So well done fellow togs. Plus there is the added bonus that, with around fifty shots, it gives the judge an easy time, allowing them to wax lyrical for a couple of minutes about each image before trashing it and giving it a five :)
Speaking of Judges, we had the lovely Gill Adams to adjudicate. Gill has been here a couple of times before & I had the good fortune to do a judging course with her a couple of years back, so she is no stranger. She, in fairness did not look well, and even though we remonstrated with her, she still would not let us down and gave us her all. Quietly at first but soon getting into her stride.
She has a set pattern of scoring the (terrible phrase) also rans. They get a score between six and eight, with hints of how, in her opinion, they can be improved upon.
The higher scores were reserved for those shots that she held back, and tonight that was just six ...
Tony's 'The Shopkeeper' & 'Guarding the pot'
Nick's 'You gotta Fight' & 'Can I borrow a cup of sugar'
Steve's 'There but for fortune' &
Colin's 'The Calligrapher'
Both of Tony's efforts & Nick's 'You gotta Fight' scored eight and a half points each
Nick's 'Can I borrow a cup of sugar' scored a nine and third place.
Steve's social commentary 'There but for fortune' scored a ten and second place
leaving all the glory to Colin's 'The Calligrapher' to grab first place, also with a ten.
I'll put up all the hold backs for your perusal (in no particular order)
Lastly, on behalf of the club, can I wish Gill the best of everything that life can offer
and hope to see you again next season.
